Workman (replacement and reserve list)

Responsibilities 

  • Work under the hierarchical authority of the school director. 
  • Conduct routine inspections of facilities and equipment, identifying and addressing maintenance needs. 
  • Perform general maintenance and repairs of school buildings, classrooms, offices, and outdoor areas. 
  • Various manual maintenance work: masonry, plumbing, painting, electricity, carpentry, mechanics, gardening. 
  • Respond promptly to maintenance requests from staff and management. 
  • Goods receipt and inventory management. 
  • Assist in the setup and breakdown of school events, including furniture arrangement and technical support. 
  • Other miscellaneous work on request. 
  • Possibility of working occasionally outside the standard hours. 

Profile and requirements 

  • Secondary education or vocational training in maintenance, construction, or a related field.
  • Proven experience in general maintenance, plumbing, electrical work, or carpentry.
  • Knowledge of health and safety regulations in a school or public building environment.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Physical fitness and ability to lift heavy objects.
  • Available to start immediately.
  • Candidates must be entitled to work in Belgium 
  • Candidates have to be in possession of a recent DBS check ("Certificate of good conduct") 

Selection Procedure

  • Diplomas obtained outside the EU must undergo homologation, e.g. via NARIC Vlaanderen 
  • Shortlisting based on diplomas, resume and motivation letter on 04/03/2026. 
  • Interview with the selection committee on 06/03/2026. 
  • Start date: 09/03/2026 
  • The selection procedure is shortened to 1 week due to its nature as a replacement. 
  • Suitable candidates will be added to the recruitment reserve list. The school can contact you if this position reopens within 1 year. 

Offer 

  • A dynamic job in an international environment 
  • A ​fulltime​ contract according to the Service Regulations of Administrative and Ancillary Staff: (Ref.: 2007-D-153-en) starting on ​As soon as possible, until 22/03/2026​ 
  • Brut monthly salary € 3 523,17 for ​37,5​ hours per week 
  • Each employee is entitled to 30 days of holiday leave per calendar year, in addition to the public holidays set by the European Commission (+/- 16 days per year).  
  • Moreover, your children may register freely at one of the European schools, under restriction of the enrolment policy for European schools.

Contract creation
